DOWSIL™ 7091 Adhesive Sealant is a one-part, room-temperature curing silicone adhesive/sealant designed for both bonding and sealing applications. It combines the properties of both an adhesive and a sealant, providing flexibility, strong adhesion, and durability across a variety of substrates, including metals, plastics, glass, and ceramics.
It cures via a neutral alkoxy system, making it non-corrosive and low-odor—ideal for sensitive applications. The product is especially useful in situations requiring long-lasting elastic bonding or sealing under mechanical stress, temperature variation, and exposure to outdoor environments.
Key Features
Neutral-cure, non-corrosive : Safe for sensitive substrates such as metals and plastics.
High flexibility & elongation : Accommodates thermal and mechanical movement (up to 400% elongation).
Excellent adhesion : Bonds well without primer to many substrates.
UV, weather, and ozone resistance : Suitable for indoor and outdoor applications.
Non-sagging formulation : Can be applied to vertical and overhead surfaces.
Room temperature curing : No heat required for curing.
Low odor : Enhances workplace comfort during application.
Paintable (in some cases) : Once cured, it can be painted over depending on the paint type.
Applications
* Transportation and automotive assembly
* HVAC systems and ductwork sealing
* Electrical enclosures and cabinets
* Appliance manufacturing
* Panel bonding in construction or industrial equipment
* General industrial sealing and gasketing
* Glass-metal bonding in architectural applications
Safety and Handling
Ventilation : Ensure good ventilation during application and curing to avoid inhalation of vapors.
Skin contact : Use protective gloves; prolonged contact may cause mild irritation.
Eye protection : Use safety glasses or goggles when applying to prevent accidental splashes.
Curing by-products : During cure, it releases a small amount of methanol (alcohol-based cure system).
Storage : Store in a cool, dry place below 30°C (86°F) and use within shelf life as specified on packaging (typically 12 months).
Disposal : Follow local regulations for disposal of uncured and cured material.
Always refer to the official Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for detailed safety, handling, and environmental information.
