MOLYKOTE® 165 LT Grease is a specialized mineral-oil-based gearwheel lubricant engineered for heavily loaded open gears and reduction gears made of metal. It operates effectively at peripheral speeds up to 2.5 m/s, making it ideal for demanding industrial applications.

Key Features

Exceptional load-carrying capacity with wear protection and even reduction of gear tooth pitting thanks to embedded solid lubricants. 

Highly adhesive due to built-in adhesion promoters. 

Excellent corrosion protection; achieves a corrosion index of 0 in the SKF-Emcor test. 

Lead- and nickel-free, making it safer and more eco-compliant. 

Black in color, NLGI consistency grade 2–3, with unworked penetration of 240–270 mm/10. 

Base oil viscosity: ~320 mm²/s at 40 °C. 

Service temperature range: –25 °C to +120 °C (–13 to +248 °F). 

Drop point: ~175 °C (347 °F).

Applications

Ideal for harsh environments and heavily stressed gear systems, including:

Open gears in industrial machinery exposed to high load and tough weather conditions.

Crushing plants, transmission mechanisms, and threaded spindles in heavy, crank-driven presses

Safety & Handling

Hazard: Classified as a skin sensitizer (Category 1); may cause allergic skin reactions. 

Precautions:

Avoid skin contact and inhalation of any dust or particulates.

Wear chemical-resistant gloves and protective clothing during handling. 

Clean contaminated clothing before reuse; do not allow to leave the workplace. 

First Aid:

For skin contact: Wash thoroughly with soap and water; seek medical advice if irritation persists. 

Environmental Protection:

Prevent environmental release. Contain and properly dispose of any leaks or spills.
