Loctite 263
Loctite 263 High Strength Threadlocker and its variants are high-strength anaerobic threadlocking adhesives designed to permanently lock and seal threaded fasteners, preventing them from loosening due to shock, vibration, and machinery operation. They are red in color, cure in the absence of air between close-fitting metal threads, and generally require heat for disassembly.
Key Features
Main Features
High-strength permanent locking of bolts, nuts, studs, and threaded fasteners.
Anaerobic cure – hardens when confined between close-fitting metal surfaces with no air.
Primerless application – works on active and passive metals (steel, stainless, aluminum) without primer.
Oil tolerant – effective even on lightly oil-coated fasteners (“as-received”).
Heat-removable – while permanent, it can be disassembled with localized heat.
Fluorescent under UV for inspection.
Wide temperature range – performs from approx. -55 °C to +180 °C.
Applications
Heavy-Duty Mechanical & Industrial
- Studs in motor housings and engine blocks
- Fasteners in gearboxes, pumps, presses
- Bolts on heavy rotating machinery
Automotive & Powertrain
- Critical engine and drivetrain bolts
- Suspension and chassis fasteners
General Threadlocking
- Seals threads against vibration loosening and fluid/gas leakage
- Replaces mechanical locking devices like lock washers or pins
- Use on metal-to-metal threads (not recommended for plastics)
